AUTHOR QUALIFICATIONS
to participate in the Northwest Book Fair:
1. Basic Requirements
- Published Work:
- The author must have at least one published book (self-published or traditionally published) available for sale.
- Local/Regional Connection:
- Preference is given to authors from the Pacific Northwest or with books featuring themes or settings connected to the region.
2. Book Quality
- Professional Standards:
- The book must meet professional quality standards, including:
- A professionally designed cover.
- Proper editing (free of significant grammatical or typographical errors).
- Books should have an ISBN and be available in printed or e-book format.

- Relevance:
- The book should align with the fair’s focus (e.g., fiction, nonfiction, children’s literature, etc.).
- Appropriate Content:
- Books must not contain explicit, offensive, or inappropriate material that could be deemed unsuitable for a public, family-friendly event.
4. Marketing & Promotion
- Active Marketing Efforts:
- Authors must demonstrate an active effort to promote their work (e.g., website, social media presence, mailing list, etc.).
- Booth Presentation:
- Authors should provide a visually appealing booth setup to attract fair attendees.
5. Participation Requirements
- Attendance:
- Authors must commit to being present at the fair for the duration of the event (or have a representative present).
- Engagement:
- Authors should be prepared to engage with attendees by:
- Signing books.
- Hosting a small activity (e.g., a Q&A, reading, or mini-workshop).

- Authors are required to pay a participation fee of $35 for a shared table or $70 for a full table.
