It’s almost the end of October and things are moving forward with the KXRW Planning team for the next fair. At the KXRW radio quarterly meeting last evening the decision was made to add a special segment to the fair that will include more storytelling mediums such as audio, video, and different digital platforms.

This segment of the fair will be called, Media Fest! A very exciting addition so stay tune as it develops.

New Venue: The Gaiser Hall at Clark College – 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver, WA 98663

Date: Saturday, June 27, 2024

Cost to attend: Free

Creator/Vendor Fee: Early Bird Registration $75 for a full 6 foot table or $35.50 for a shared spot.

Early Bird Registration opened October 20 and will continue until the first 40 spots are filled or ending December 31, 2025. Whichever comes first. Registration is $75 until the New Year when it goes up to $100 for three months. If we still have spaces after March (not likely) full registration cost is $125.

So far we have about 32 positive responses (after only a few days) so looks like it might be closing before the snow flies. Well, of course in Vancouver we don’t always get snow . . . but it is predicted to be a bit colder this year so I expect some flutter flakes over the countryside.

About the Venue: Gaiser Hall at Clark College is a wonderful space for the fair. We plan to set up 59 tables in long rows facing each other so visitors can travel between two rows easily. At this point I am not sure how much space there will be for floor banners so we may be asking that question before we start assigning spaces and put the ones with floor banners along the outside rows. It is a new venue so that will be something to work out.

More spaces will be added in hallways and possibly other rooms.

All spaces are inside this beautiful, air-controlled space. A large separate room for workshops, hallways with seating to mix and mingle and all of the places are completely wheelchair accessible.

Workshops: These are not worked out yet but we have our thinking caps on to have some exciting workshops for attendees.

Food and Drink: Yes, we will have food vendors outside with nice spaces for eating, drinking and chatting with friends.

Parking is amazing. The college has three very large parking lots. We will ask vendors to unload and to move their vehicles to lots a bit further away so visitors can get to the fair easily.

Children’s Activities: First of all we do ask that children be accompanied by an adult at all times. No wandering down long halls and taking elevators to mysterious college places! That aside, we will have a fun children’s Activity center where I am pretty sure there will be face painting, read aloud sessions with authors, free things like color and activity pages and of course games with prizes. Of course we will have prizes.

Author Interviews for KXRW! This is still in the works but we will create a special interview space for interviews at the fair.

So this is all for now. The fair is over seven months away but the journey to making it the best event ever is on its way! The 2025 event had at least 1500 attending (I think a lot more but I wasn’t actually counting . . . )
